Why Was My Volunteer Opportunity Deactivated?

Learn why this happens and how to get your opportunity reactivated

Last updated on 06 Nov, 2025

We know how busy nonprofit work can be! To keep Taproot Plus opportunities current and give your team time to review volunteer applications, our system may occasionally deactivate your listing. This means that your pro bono opportunity is no longer published or able to accept new applicants until relevant action is taken.

This can happen when:

  • You haven’t responded to a volunteer’s application within a week.

  • Three or more volunteers have applied in a short period of time, triggering the Max Applicants state. Our system deactivates your listing while you review their applications.

Once you take action on a volunteer’s application, your opportunity will automatically reactivate and open again for new volunteers if a match hasn’t been made yet. You can also select to close the listing to new applicants and focus on existing candidates!

Checking your dashboard regularly helps keep things moving and ensures volunteers stay engaged.

If you have any questions or think your listing was deactivated by mistake, reach out to us at help@taprootplus.org. We’re happy to help!
