First off, Congrats!
A volunteer has raised their hand to support your organization. That's a big deal, and we're excited for you to explore this potential connection. Whether your opportunity is a Session or a Project, we'll walk you through what happens next so you can confidently take the next steps.
Step 1: You've Got Mail (and a Task!)
When a volunteer applies, you'll receive an email notification. You'll also see their application in your My Tasks area when you log in to your Taproot account, front and center. This is your cue to respond promptly. We recommend replying within 2 days to keep the momentum going.
Each application includes:
The volunteer's name and basic professional details
Their LinkedIn profile, online resume, and/or portfolio (if provided)
A short statement of interest—why they're excited about your opportunity and how they're qualified to help
Step 2: What Kind of Opportunity Is It?
If it's a Session:
Sessions are 1-hour consultation calls.
Review the application to decide if you'd like to meet.
If yes, suggest a few times for the call.
The volunteer will choose a time that works for them, and you're all set to connect!
If it's a Project:
Projects are multi-week engagements.
Review the application to decide if you'd like to schedule a 30-minute interview.
This is a chance to learn more about the volunteer to see if it's a mutual fit.
Suggest a few times, and the volunteer will select one that works for them.
Remember: this interview doesn't commit you to working together—it's just a conversation to explore alignment.
Step 3: Follow Through with Care
We know your time is valuable, and so is the volunteer's. Whether you move forward or not, a timely and thoughtful response helps build trust and keep the Taproot community strong. You're in the driver's seat, and we're here to support you every step of the way.
