What is an EIN?

This is one way we verify nonprofit’s eligibility.

EIN stands for Employer Identification Number (also known as the Federal Tax Identification Number) which is a unique nine-digit number assigned by the Internal Revenue Service to business entities operating in the United States for the purposes of identification.

We run EINs through an internal database to determine whether a charitable organization is recognized as tax-exempt under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)3, as this is one of several eligibility requirements for utilizing Taproot Plus.
