Does Taproot Plus Vet Skilled Volunteers?

What to know about volunteer qualifications and selecting the right fit

Last updated on 04 Dec, 2025

All volunteers are required to sign the Taproot Plus Community Agreement when applying to work with your organization. This agreement confirms their commitment to providing the services your team has requested and verifies that they have relevant professional experience in the skill area they’re offering.

Taproot Plus empowers your nonprofit to choose which volunteer candidate you’d like to work with. For Project listings, you’ll have the opportunity to interview applicants to determine whether they’re the right fit for your needs. During this interview, you can vet the volunteer just as you would for a staff or contractor role—feel free to ask for a resume, references, or examples of past work.

You’re encouraged to treat a Taproot Plus volunteer engagement like a professional partnership that supports your organization’s goals and helps build capacity.
