How Do I Schedule an Interview with a Volunteer Applicant? What if the Call Is Missed?

Learn how to connect with volunteer applicants, reschedule missed calls, and move your opportunity forward

Last updated on 04 Dec, 2025

When a skilled volunteer applies to your Taproot Plus opportunity, they’ll submit a statement of interest along with their LinkedIn profile and resume (if available). Once you’ve reviewed their application and you’re interested in meeting the volunteer, follow these steps to schedule a 30-minute interview:

  1. Propose call times. From your Taproot Plus Dashboard, go to the volunteer’s application and select Schedule an Interview to share a few time options that work for your schedule.

  2. Wait for confirmation. The volunteer will select one of your proposed times, and both of you will receive a confirmation email with the video call details

  3. Join the call. At the scheduled time, click JOIN VIDEO CALL in your confirmation email or directly from your dashboard. Calls are hosted through the Taproot Plus platform using Zoom.

If the Call Is Missed

We know things come up! If you or the volunteer miss the scheduled call, you can easily report it and reschedule.

  1. Go to the opportunity page on your Taproot Plus Dashboard

  2. Click Mark Call as Missed on the volunteer application.

  3. If you’re still interested in connecting with the volunteer, select Propose New Call Times to send a few new options to the volunteer.

  4. Once the volunteer confirms a new time, you’ll receive an updated confirmation email with the new call details.

If you decide the volunteer isn’t the right fit, you can decline their application directly from the page.

Timely communication helps keep your opportunity active and ensures a positive experience for both you and the volunteer. If you have any questions or run into any issues scheduling or rescheduling a call, reach out to us at help@taprootplus.org—we’re happy to help!
