Create a volunteer account on Taproot Plus.
On the Get Started page, select one of the options that best represents you.
Once you complete the sign-up form, you’ll receive a notification asking to verify your email. We recommend adding Taproot to your safe senders list.
After verifying your email address, you’ll be asked to select your Professional Strengths, which are the skills you feel confident using to support a nonprofit. Pro bono consulting is a great way to apply your expertise and strengthen your collaboration skills, but it’s not the best place to learn something entirely new.
You will also get an opportunity to select the Cause Areas you're passionate about. Taproot supports nonprofits working in education, social services, veterans, human rights, and more.
Now you are ready to explore Opportunities and apply for ones that match your skill set. Click here to learn about Taproot's one-hour consultation sessions and multi-week project options.
When you find an opportunity you want to volunteer for, simply click 'Apply Now'.
What to expect after you apply:
For Sessions: The nonprofit will review your application and propose times to meet. You'll select the time that works best for you and confirm the consultation call. You'll receive a confirmation email with the video call details. At the time of the call, join by clicking the JOIN CALL button in your confirmation email or through your Taproot Plus Dashboard.
For Projects: It’s a similar process to Sessions, except the call serves as a 30-minute interview. The nonprofit will review your application and propose times to meet. This call is your opportunity to discuss the project’s goals, deliverables, and timeline in greater detail to see if it’s a good fit. If it is, the nonprofit will accept your application, and you'll begin collaborating. Once all work is completed, you'll log in to your Taproot Plus Dashboard and mark the engagement as complete.
Taproot will periodically check in via email with both you and the nonprofit to see how things are going. Never hesitate to share positive or negative reports with us! We’ll step in to mediate if there are any project challenges.
