With a range of Projects and Sessions available on Taproot Plus, finding the right opportunity starts with knowing what you’re looking for. A thoughtful match benefits both you and the nonprofit you support.
Start With Your Skills
Focus on opportunities that align with your strongest professional skills. Nonprofits are often looking for volunteers who can work independently and deliver a clear outcome.
Ask yourself:
Have I used this skill enough to confidently offer guidance or produce a finished deliverable?
Does this opportunity match the type of work I do professionally?
Being realistic about your expertise helps set everyone up for success.
Consider Your Availability
Before applying, take a moment to assess your schedule.
Sessions are one-hour consultation calls and require minimal time beyond preparation.
Projects typically run for 2–12 weeks, with a weekly commitment of about 2 to 5 hours (averaging around 30 hours in total).
Choose an opportunity that fits your current capacity so you can fully commit.
Read the Scope Carefully
Strong opportunities clearly outline the nonprofit’s goals, deliverables, and timeline. Look for listings that:
Describe a specific outcome
Include a clear scope of work
Align with your experience and interests
Use Filters to Narrow Your Search
When browsing opportunities, use filters to sort by skill area and time commitment. This helps you quickly identify listings that align with your background and availability.
Keep Exploring
Not every opportunity will be the right fit, and that’s okay. If one doesn’t move forward, continue browsing. New opportunities are added regularly, and your next great match may be just around the corner.
