What Should I Do if My Volunteer Can’t Complete the Project?

Here’s how Taproot can help you adjust your project plan and find new volunteer support

Last updated on 04 Dec, 2025

We understand that sometimes things change. Volunteers may face unexpected schedule shifts, workload changes, or personal commitments that prevent them from continuing their Taproot Plus Project.

If your volunteer can no longer complete the Project, here’s what to do:

  1. Check in with your volunteer.
If possible, reach out directly to thank them for the time and effort they’ve already contributed. Ask whether they can share any deliverables or notes that could help you continue the work.

  2. Update Taproot.
Contact our team at help@taprootplus.org or respond to one of your Taproot check-in emails. Let us know what happened and where the project stands. We’ll help you assess next steps.

  3. Decide how to move forward.
Depending on your Project’s progress, you may be able to reopen the opportunity and match with a new volunteer, or you might choose to mark it as complete, revise your scope, and post a new opportunity. Our team can help guide that decision.

If you’re unsure what to do or need a quick gut check, reach out. We’re here to help you navigate the situation and get your Project back on track.
