Tracking Your Volunteer Hours on Taproot Plus

Your impact matters—and we’re here to help you keep track of it and achieve your volunteer goals.

Last updated on 11 Mar, 2026

Volunteering your skills is a powerful way to support nonprofits, and we want to make sure you have the tools to reflect on and share the impact you’ve made. Taproot Plus provides an Impact Tracker in your dashboard that automatically records the hours and financial value of your completed pro bono work. Here’s how it works—and what to do if you need official documentation of your service.

How Taproot Tracks Your Impact

Once you complete a project or session through Taproot Plus, your volunteer dashboard will update to reflect:

  • Hours contributed

  • Estimated financial value of your work

We use a standard pro bono valuation of $220/hour to calculate the financial impact of your service. If you’re interested in learning more about how Taproot calculates pro bono services, check out this article

Here’s how we credit your account:

  • Sessions: Automatically credited with 1 hour and $220 in value.

  • Projects: Automatically credited with 30 hours, totaling $6,600 in value.

If you feel the 30-hour estimate for a project doesn’t reflect the actual time you spent, we encourage you to reach out to us at help@taprootplus.org. We’ll work with you to update your account and ensure your impact is accurately recognized. We are also actively working on a feature that will enable regular time tracking while matched on a Taproot Plus Project. Our team will be in touch with updates in the coming months!

Need a Signature or Certification?

Taproot Plus is an intermediary—we connect volunteers and nonprofits, but we don’t directly oversee or manage the work completed. Because of this, we’re unable to certify your hours or provide official documentation of your service.

If you need a signature or formal verification (for school, work, or other programs), we recommend:

  • Communicating your needs early: Let the nonprofit know at the start of your engagement.

  • Building trust: Nonprofits are more likely to provide documentation if expectations are clear and the relationship is strong.

  • Being flexible: Not all organizations are able or willing to provide formal certification, but many are happy to acknowledge your contributions informally.

We’re Here to Support You

Your time and expertise are incredibly valuable—and we want you to feel confident in the impact you’re making. Whether you’re tracking hours for personal reflection or professional development, Taproot’s Impact Tracker is here to help.

If you have questions or need help updating your hours, reach out to us anytime at help@taprootplus.org. We’re grateful for the work you do and proud to support your journey as a pro bono consultant.
