Why Can’t I Submit a New Volunteer Opportunity?

How responding to pending volunteer applications keeps opportunities moving forward

Last updated on 12 Mar, 2026

If you’re unable to submit a new volunteer opportunity, it usually means there is a volunteer application from one of your existing listings that is waiting for a response from your team.

This application will appear in the Pending Nonprofit Availability state. This happens when:

  • A volunteer applied and has not yet received a response, or

  • A volunteer suggested new times and is waiting to hear back.

You can quickly locate these applications by going to the Applications tab in your Taproot Plus Dashboard and filtering by Pending Nonprofit Availability

What You Need to Do

Log in to your Taproot Plus Dashboard and review the application(s) listed as Pending Nonprofit Availability

From there, you can choose how you’d like to proceed. You can:

  • Propose times to meet

  • Schedule the call

  • Accept the volunteer

  • Decline the application

Once you take action on all pending applications, you’ll be able to submit a new volunteer opportunity

Why This Step Exists

Responding to volunteer applications helps maintain a positive experience for everyone on the platform. Volunteers receive timely updates, and nonprofits can keep their opportunities moving toward a successful match.

If you’re unsure which application needs attention or you need help reviewing your dashboard, reach out to help@taprootplus.org. We’re happy to help.
