Getting started on Taproot Plus is easy! Follow these quick steps to create your nonprofit account, post your opportunity, and connect with skilled volunteers ready to help your mission thrive.
Create a nonprofit account on Taproot Plus. Learn more about our nonprofit eligibility criteria here. If you are a US-based organization, you’ll need to have your EIN handy for this process.
Once your nonprofit account is set up, create a volunteer request by selecting either ‘Create Project’ or ‘Create Session’ on your Taproot Plus Dashboard (click here to learn about the difference between our services).
After you submit a request, a Taproot team member will review your request to ensure it meets Taproot guidelines. After the review and approval process is completed, your volunteer opportunity will be published on the Taproot Plus marketplace.
When your request is published and a volunteer expresses interest in your opportunity:
For Sessions, you’ll also receive a notification, but there’s no screening call. If you’d like to connect with the volunteer, simply share a few time options for your one-hour consultation call.
For Projects, you’ll receive an email notification inviting you to schedule a 30-minute screening call. We ask that you respond as quickly as you can—timely communication keeps volunteers engaged and your opportunity active. If no action is taken, Taproot will temporarily deactivate your listing until you schedule a call or decline the application.
After matching with a volunteer, you can start collaborating. Schedule a kick-off meeting using any communication platform that you and your partner prefer.
Taproot will periodically check in via email with both you and the volunteer to see how things are going. Don't hesitate to share feedback—positive or negative. If any challenges come up, our team is here to help mediate and keep the Project on track.
When your work together is complete, log in to your Taproot Plus Dashboard to mark the opportunity as complete and celebrate your collaboration!
